Mixed Media

Mixed Media Art gives me the opportunity of limitless creativity because there are no restrictions in materials or methods. Anything that is created is basically a form of art, regardless of the materials, motives and dimensions.

Mixed Media Art leaves me room to experiment. When I started with it, I was using a tremendous variety of materials - not to mention that browsing through an art store is fun – but to be honest, I was more confused than having a clear image what my art should actually look like.

As time went on, I started to develop preferences for a few materials and “less is more” became one of my mantras. My favorite items became prints made on a gel plate, acrylic paints, pastels and Pesco markers. I’m adding the occasional stencil and gel marker. My favorite art projects are abstract collage paintings.

Every now and then though, I allow my curiosity to take the lead and venture out into other areas to decide if I want to improve my skills there.

Mixed Media has allowed me to express myself and to become more present in the moment. In the constant search for new motives and materials, I have become more aware of my surroundings. Making art constantly forces me to leave my comfort zone and thus grow on a personal level.

And it’s this awareness and personal growth that helps me in other circumstances as well.
